String trimming
The spots a mower cannot reach. String trimming around beds, fences and trees is part of every Coopers Mowing visit, weekly or every other week.
What string trimming covers
A mower handles the open lawn. It cannot get tight against a fence post, around the base of a tree, or along the curve of a flower bed. String trimming takes care of those spots with a spinning line that cuts the grass down to match the rest of the lawn.
On every visit, that means trimming:
- Around flower beds and mulch beds
- Along fence lines
- Around trees
Why it matters so much
Trimming is the step people forget until they see a yard without it. A freshly mowed lawn with tall grass hugging the fence still looks unfinished. Shaggy tufts around a tree trunk or the corner of a bed are often the first thing a neighbor notices. Trimming closes those gaps so the whole yard reads as one even, cared for lawn.
Trimming around trees
Tree trunks need a little care. Trimmer line can scrape bark, and damage to the bark can open a tree up to stress and disease, especially young trees with thin bark. A common way homeowners protect young trees is a small ring of mulch around the base, so there is less grass right against the trunk. It is a simple step that makes the trim around the tree cleaner too.
Fence lines in North Texas yards
Many backyards around Frisco, Prosper and McKinney are fenced, and that adds up to a lot of fence line. Bermuda and St. Augustine both spread by runners, and they push right up against a fence if nothing cuts them back. Trimming every visit keeps the line along the fence as neat as the middle of the yard.
If your gate is locked, leave it unlocked on mowing day or share the code with Joseph, so the backyard and its fence line can be reached.
Part of the full visit
String trimming is one of four steps on every visit, along with mowing front and back, edging along the sidewalk and driveway, and blow-off of the hard surfaces. Both plans, weekly mowing and every other week, get the same routine.
Mowing only. String trimming here means grass around beds, fences and trees. Coopers Mowing does not trim hedges or shrubs, prune trees, or weed flower beds.
Do you trim hedges or bushes?
No. String trimming is for grass only. Hedge and shrub trimming, tree pruning and bed weeding are outside what Coopers Mowing does. It is mowing only.
Is trimming included on the every other week plan?
Yes. Both plans get the same visit: mow, string trim, edge and blow-off. The only difference is how often.
What about my dog and the backyard?
Keep pets inside on mowing day and make sure the gate is reachable. That way the fence line and beds in the backyard can be trimmed safely.
